Elecard MPEG Player is a feature-rich multimedia player. It lets you load and play a large variety of multimedia file formats, including popular ones like MPEG, AVI, MP4, 3GP, MOV, and so on. It’s meant to provide a smooth, high-quality playback of the multimedia files even on weaker hardware configurations. Therefore it also provides support for loading and playing HD (high-definition) video files.
Its interface is quite simple-to-use and intuitive. Unfortunately, it supports only 2 skins and additional customization possibilities are pretty much nonexistent. It also looks rather old, unappealing and dull, regardless which one of the two skins is used.
The main advantage of this tool is the large variety of advanced features and functions that it provides. It supports deinterlace filters, a wide range of codecs, formats and containers, and it can even perform intricate file trimming. Other than that, it offers the same things that most multimedia players offer, such as the support for managing playlists and bookmarks. On the other hand, most multimedia players that offer this kind of features are also free or much cheaper, while registering the full version Elecard MPEG Player unfortunately costs quite a lot.
Though Elecard is a well-known IT company with notable customers and partners, I’m surprised to notice that this player doesn’t seem to stand up to the value of the other products from this developer. It’s rather dull and unremarkable, so I guess the codecs and the multimedia encoding and compressing solutions remain Elecard’s strong points.
